Kimbolton

The funeral took place of one of our closest members, Pat Surkitt. Pat died in August 2017 and his funeral was held on 24 August.

Pat never served in the armed forces having a reserved occupation. He often told me how he regretted never being called up for National Service. He was however an active member of the Royal British Legion and accompanied us on many overseas trips, especially twice to the WW1 graves and Ypres, The second WW2 battlefields and cemetaries of Normandy, plus Italy and Malta.

His funeral was attended by many members of the Kimbolton Branch RBL and  the Standard was lowered as the hearse arrived by Standard Bearer Brian Strand. Taking the salute were John Hill, Terry Rees and Pauling Swinden.

Our condolenses to Joan and Pat's family. We will miss him. (see also in the Photo Gallery)Pat (1)
