The Royal British Legion is recognised as the national custodian of Remembrance. Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, is the day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today.
Listed below are some of the many Services, Parades and Celebrations that the Branch are planning or have recently attended to Honour those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice, and those still suffering today with Battle Field Trauma (PTSD), we also attend such events to thank our Armed Forces and Veterans.

Remembrance Day Social Event at The Club, Quesada
The Torrevieja Branch held a truly fantastic Remembrance Day Social Event today at The Club in Quesada, bringing together veterans, branch members, and the local community for a moving and memorable occasion. The programme featured an evocative journey through the wartime years, with music provided by Posh Affaire, an 18-piece concert band, setting the perfect atmosphere for reflection and remembrance.
Parade of Standards and Formal Proceedings
The ceremony included a Parade of Standards led by the three Standard Bearers from the Torrevieja Branch of The Royal British Legion. This was followed by a heartfelt speech from the Branch Chairman on “The Meaning of Remembrance”, reminding all present of the significance of the day. The formal proceedings included the Exhortation, the playing of the Last Post and Reveille, and an Act of Homage by the Standard Bearers, culminating in a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony conducted by the Branch Chair.
Community Attendance and Appreciation
It was heartening to see The Club filled to capacity, with so many veterans and members of the local community in attendance. The Branch received numerous words of appreciation from those present, highlighting the importance of such events in bringing people together to honour and remember. On behalf of The Royal British Legion, Torrevieja Branch, heartfelt thanks are extended to everyone who contributed so generously to the TRBL Poppy Appeal during the event.

TORREVIEJA BRANCH REMEMBRANCE SERVICE 2024
This year the Remembrance Service was held on 11th November 2024 at La Inmaculada Conception Church in Torrevieja. The Service commenced with the sounding of the Last Post at 11.00 hrs.
The Standards were led by the Torrevieja Pipes and Drums.

We were also very happy to have children from the Phoenix International School.
On the eleventh day of the eleventh month, at 11am, we observed a 2 minute silence to honour all the service personnel who have died during conflict. Students kindly
made a donation to the Poppy appeal in support of this very worthy cause.
We were also invited to by the Royal British Legion to join them at their service at La Inmaculada Concepcion church in Torrevieja. Vira Kukhtevych represented the school and read out a poem during the very moving service, which was attended by many servicemen and local dignitaries.
Well done to all of those students involved.
The Service was followed by a Wreath Laying Ceremony in the main square outside La Inmaculada Conception Church. Wreaths were laid by the Mayor of Torrevieja, In addition and in keeping with tradition, wreaths were also laid and crosses planted in the Remembrance Garden at La Siesta Church, in memory of those fallen during the two World Wars and the many armed conflicts thereafter.
Once again, this proved to be a very popular event with many visitors and branch members in attendance.
