You will be aware that the Torrevieja Branch of The Royal British Legion have several Remembrance and Armistice Day events taking place over the coming days. As a Branch we would like to welcome everyone to all of the events below. All of the events listed are supporting The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

3rd Branch Cultural Visit - Thursday 26th Nov 26.
I'm please to inform you that our 3rd Branch Cultural Visit organised by Graham Knight will be taking place on Thursday 26th November 2026.
Format for the visit will be as follows:
CHANGE OF ITINERARY CULTURAL VISIT 26 NOV 26:-

By chance, on the 26th November 2026, Torrevieja's own flagship, "PASCUAL FLORES", will be in her home port.
We have the opportunity to visit her at a negotiated a reduced admission price of 3€ per person. In view of this opportunity, the visit to "PASCUAL FLORES" will replace that of the "Sea & Salt museum as there will be insufficient time for both.
"PASCUAL FLORES" is only one of two remaining tall ships which were built here in Torrevieja in 1917 immediately outside of the Casino. She was used primarily for the export of salt and other goods to various parts of Europe and the Caribbean. She featured in the 1970's BBC Television series "The Onedin Line" and later retired to Milford Haven, Wales before returning home to Torrevieja in 2003.

The revised itinerary is as follows:-
THURSDAY 26th NOVEMBER 2026:-
(All times are approximate).
- 0945 hours: Meet in the main hall of the CASINO de TORREVIEJA, Paseo Vista Alegre where reserved seating has been arranged. (We will be accompanied by a guide from the tourist office, Rosa or Maria José), who have kindly arranged for our exclusive visits).
Coffee etc. at individual's expense. An informative talk, “Torrevieja - Things you might not know" (history, anecdotes, culture, traditions, legends).
Visit to CASINO:-
- 10.30 hours: Walk (approx 800m) to the "MUSEOS FLOTANTES" (floating museums) where, divided into two groups, we will take a guided visit of the S61 submarine, the "Albatross" customs launch and the static exhibits on land. QR codes are available and offer a further explanation in English.
- 12.00 hours: Walk t(e short distance within the harbour area to visit the schooner, "PASCUAL FLORES", built in Torrevieja in 1917. Cost of the visit will be 3€ per person. Please bring change if possible.
After the visit we will return to the CASINO.
- 13.30 hours: LUNCH at CASINO. (tables reserved in the main hall).
The lunch at the Casino will be at a cost of 18€ per person and consist of :
Starter / appetizer in the centre of table for sharing :- Bread & alioli, Iberian ham, cheeses, croquettes (ham, cod).
Main course:- Paella (Margo and pork ribs) OR vegetable paella.
Assortment of various desserts.
Two drinks (wine or beer, water, soft drinks)per person.
This will be another great opportunity for Branch Members to come together for another Cultural Visit and Lunch.
I'm expecting the 30 places to fill up quickly, so please don't delay if you would like to attend.

Remembrance Commemorations - Social Event
For the 2nd Year we will be again holding Remembrance Commemorations at The Club Quesada on 08/Nov/2026
Lsat Year at this event we also signed up SIX NEW BRANCH MEMBERS, please come and join us again this year and see the good work completed by The Royal British Legion here in Spain (TRBL). Please also speak to us about also becoming a Member of TRBL and we can complete your Membership Application on the day.

Torrevieja Branch of The Royal British Legion - Armistice Day Commemorations - 11 November 2026
The Branch Committee would like to invite you all to our Annual Armistice Day Parade of Standards, Church Service and Wreath Laying Service.
Parade of Standards, Serving Members, Veterans,Branch Members and the General Public. The parade will be lead by the Torrevieja Pipes and Drums, the parade will Step Off at 10:15 hours, from the Form Up Point. March a short distance to Parroquia del Sagrado Corazoón de Jesús Church, some 700 Meters.
The Armistice Day Church Service Commencing at 10:30 hours in Torrevieja at Parroquia del Sagrado Corazoón de Jesús (Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus). We also have The Phoenix International Concert Band, Melody Makers Choir and Students from Phoenix International School reading a Remembrance Poem.
On completion of the service, there will be a Wreath Laying Ceremony by Eduardo Dolón Sánchez Mayor of Torrevieja and Jack Kemp the Torrevieja Branch Chairman.
At 14:00 hours (2pm) we will be holding an Armistice day lunch at Alingui Restaurant a very short distance from the Church the lunch is open to everyone to attend.

Branch Meetings
Torrevieja Branch meets on alternate months, Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, Nov. The General Branch Meetings start at 1100 hours at Silverstone Bar in Monetbello.
After the General Branch Meeting we hold a Social Lunch. Guest are always welcome to come and see the Torrevieja Branch of The Royal British Legion.
Membership of TRBL can also be completed at the General Branch Meetings.
POST EVENT ARTICLE
Armed Forces Day - Torrevieja - 27th June 26
1. The annual Armed Forces Day commemoration, consisting of a short Parade and Commemorative Service, is one of the premier events in the District’s year. It gives members of the British community living in Spain the opportunity to mark their gratitude for those who serve and have served in the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Spain. It is held on the last Saturday in June to coincide with Armed Forces in the United Kingdom. This year we will also be marking the 15th Anniversary to the end of Operations in Iraq (Operation TELIC).
2. As in previous years we are most grateful to the Mayor, Town Hall and people of Torrevieja for their kind invitation to host AFD26 in the city and for their support, without which this event would not be possible. It also demonstrates the close ties between the city and the British community, for which we are also grateful.
Location
3. AFD26 will be held in the Plaza de la Constitución Torrevieja, Square outside the Church, 03181 starting at 18.00 hours (6pm) on Saturday 27th June 2026. The celebrations will be preceded by a short Parade of Standards from Plaza Miguel Hernández to the church square, moving off at 17.50 hours.
4. The Torrevieja Pipes and Drums will lead the Parade of Standards and Veterans from the Muster Point to the gardens outside the church and to also play a lament post the VIP Speeches.
5. The Phoenix International Concert Band will provide incidental music prior to the arrival of the Parade at the gardens, as well as the National Anthems of The Spain followed by the United Kingdom at end of the ceremony. Public access to the seating area will be open from 17:40 hours.
Cultural Visit: Salt Lakes Torrevieja

Another very enjoyable Cultural visit to Torrevieja Salt Lakes organised by Graham Knight, 35 members attended the event which was also followed by a social lunch at Restaurant Alingui Centro.

Cultural Visit: Torrevieja Harbour and Surroundings - Tue 3rd March 2026
I would like to thank Graham Knight for organising such an interesting and informative Cultural Visit. For those that did not attend today, why not lookout for our next visit.

Introduction
As discussed at last year's Annual General Meeting, the Committee, with the assistance and leadership of Graham Knight, will be organising a series of cultural visits within the Torrevieja area. These excursions are designed to deepen our understanding and appreciation of the community in which we reside.
Details of the First Cultural Visit
The inaugural visit is scheduled for Tuesday, 3rd March 2026. Participants are to meet at the new car park at 10:45 hours, as indicated by the QR code within the information attached. The visit will commence at 10:50 and conclude at 13:20 hours. Lunch will follow at 13:30 hours.
Location and Activities
This exclusive visit will focus on the current redevelopment works at the harbour, where a multi-million euro investment is underway. The transformation aims to create a comprehensive leisure centre, which will feature a cinema, bowling alley, restaurants, and bars.
Please note that, due to the nature of the site, this visit is not suitable for wheelchair access and will involve negotiating some stairs.
Additional stops will include a tour of the Aduanas (the Customs building dating back to the 1950s), as well as a visit to the fish market. However, the fish auction will not be taking place during our visit.
Lunch Arrangements
Lunch will be served as Menu del Dia at Bar Isla. The cost is €13 per person, excluding drinks. Menu also attached.

Torrevieja Branch Act of Remembrance

The Branch Armistice/Remembrance Day Parade in Torrevieja Church on 11th November 2025. As a branch we have access to the church at 1030hrs and the committee is inviting ALL members of Torrevieja Branch No 3456 to attend in good numbers. The new committee is now endeavouring to ensure this parade, and many other events not too far away in the diary are as well oiled as they should be and will be requesting membership attendance if possible in such a busy period. brush off the shoes, polish the medals and we hope to see you all there as one. 80th Anniversary of VJ Day Celebrations - 15th August 2025
On behalf of the Chairman please find attached the poster for the Torrevieja Branch of The RBL (BR3456) official VJ80 day celebrations which you are all invited to attend.
Formal direction and timings for those involved during the day will be forthcoming but needless to say with the Pipes & drums, ceremonial parade of standards, Live radio broadcasts during the day AND discounted food subsidised by the Branch there is a lot going on.
Those members who wish to parade behind the Branch standard will be encouraged by all means but are requested to be at Silverstones before the parade STARTS at 1300hrs, however we are open from 1100hrs.
There is a parade muster area 400m up the hill from Silverstones. If you are wishing to parade please can you reply so I can pass numbers to our President who be acting as Parade Marshall for the day.
From Torrevieja Branch to all those that joined us yesterday from Near & Far, the 14 New Members of our Branch and for all the Very Kind Donations for TRBL Poppy Appeal - THANK YOU.
Yesterday (15th August 25) we had one of our best events ever, the numbers attending was amazing thank you. As a Branch we have so many to thank, starting with the Venue, Silverstones Bar & Bistro at Montebello, a fantastic location, looked after us all so well, the food was excellent, Big FM for the Live Broadcast, Torrevieja Pipes & Drums, our own Standard Bearers and the Associations that also joined us or also came with Standards to be displayed on Parade. Our Branch Committee Members, thank you for pulling together as a Team, and making this such a special day for all those that attended.
The 14 New Branch Members we look forward to seeing you and officially welcoming you to our Branch, for now you will receive a welcome letter from the Branch President once we have your Membership Confirmation Number from London.
You also raised € 421.23 for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal at the event. Thank you all.

31st July - Social Lunch - Pins Restaurant
Yesterday was a very busy day but we all squeezed in our monthly TRBL Lunch organised be our Social Rep, Helen Lovell. This month was at the Pines, Benijofar, food was lovely company even better. An excellent chance to meet members and discuss how we can include them in more organised fun. An amazing €50 was raised for Branch Funds from the raffle, bearing in mind only 13 dined, it is gratefully received. Our next event is VJ80 Day on the 15th August at Silverstones, lunch is on us!
29th June - Social Lunch - Quesada Fish & Chips
On behalf of the Chairman, John Richard Lord i would like to thank all those who organised or attended the Quesada Fish and Chip lunch on 29th June 2025. Fabulous to see everyone enjoying themselves and meeting potential new members. The raffle raised €65 for the Branch general fund which will go a long way to supporting the branch and future events. Thanks Helen Lovell, great start.
Torrevieja Branch held it's 3rd Annual Poppy Appeal Petanca Competition hosted by Peacocks Petanca Club at Westvilles.
On the 25th May of this year the Torrevieja Branch held it's 3rd Annual Poppy Appeal Petanca Competition hosted by Peacocks Petanca Club at Westvilles. Organised by Jackie Lowton and Geoff Thomas the Branch Treasurer.
18 Members of the Branch participated. A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Peacocks Petanca Club by the Branch Chairman John Lord and flowers to Jackie Lowton.
A very successful and enjoyable day. All monies raised on that day (entrance fees and Raffle) was donated to the Torrevieja Branch Poppy Appeal. Well done all €282 raised.
