Rugby No1

Rugby No 1 Branch of the Royal British Legion will be very active during Armed Forces week. Here is a summary of what is coming up.

The week's events start on Monday, June 22nd, with the standard being paraded at the GE Vernova facility on Technology Drive at 09.00 for a short flag-raising ceremony. This is followed by the Standard being carried at the Rugby Borough Council Armed Forces Day flag-raising outside the Town Hall at 10.00am. Members of the public are welcome to watch the proceedings.

Saturday, June 27th, sees several events taking place across the county. Closest to home Gemma Simonian will represent the branch at the act of remembrance and commemoration at Hillmorton War Memorial at 10.50 AM

Meanwhile, in Leamington Spa it is anticipated the branch standard will bé paraded at the Warwick DC Armed Forces Day event.  The event runs from 11.00 to 16.00 

The whole community is invited to join us on Saturday 27 June from 11am to 4pm with an Armed Forces Day Community Event in the Pump Room Gardens, Royal Leamington Spa.

Commemorating our Allies

Come and join us for our Armed Forces Day Community Event in Warwick District as a thank you to current and former serving members of the Armed Forces and their families.

This annual event, a staple event in the District’s calendar, builds on the success of previous years, with recognition of the Armed Forces and the contributions that our allies have made in past conflicts, and continue to make and strengthen.

The event is completely free, with activities, information, performances and displays aimed at families, individuals, military enthusiasts and current and former serving members of the Armed Forces.

What's happening on the day

  • Village of stalls showcasing the military museums from Warwick
  • Stalls from veteran support charities
  • Live music by Vintage Celine Rose
  • Local military regiments
  • Military vehicles including tanks
  • FREE children’s activities including bouncy castle and trampolines
  • FREE hot dogs and ice creams for children (while stocks last)
  • Sikh Langar – vegetarian food (while stocks last)

 

And there's more

An Armed Forces event with a difference is Covrail 2026. The show is for one day only and will take place at the Sky Blue Connection at Ryton. It is anticipated that there will be over 40 layouts, as well as traders' stands. The organisers have said entry is free to any Armed Forces personnel or veterans with suitable ID.
