It aims to provide tailored, modern services for veterans and their families, addressing diverse needs while ensuring service and sacrifice are never forgotten.

Key Pillars of the 2026 - 2035 Strategy:

Our Vision and mission - bringing society to recognise and support the Armed Forces Community - Our Mission, the RBL will support our Armed forces community and ensure that their unique contribution is not forgotten.

Our Strategic outcomes

• Connect: Strengthening the community by bringing people together, fostering partnerships, and encouraging collaboration.

• Remember: Acting as the custodian of Remembrance, ensuring the unique contribution of the Armed Forces is recognized by all generations.

• Support: Providing tailored, expert care and assistance to serving personnel, veterans, and their families, including welfare, mental health, and financial support.

Strategic Priorities & Transformation:

Tailoring services to meet the needs of a younger, more diverse veteran population (e.g., increased focus on working-age veterans).

• Evidence-Led Approach: Utilizing data to improve effectiveness and make a meaningful impact.

• Operational Excellence: Improving the efficiency of internal processes, procurement, and staff/volunteer training to better serve beneficiaries.

Our long-term Goals

Connect:

Strengthening Camaraderie: we will understand how the Armed Forces Community seeks to connect and collaborate with one another, and we will support and strengthen these connections.

Building supportive communities: we will build supportive communities that have a positive impact for the wider Armed Forces Community, including in places and with those who have found it hard hard to connect.

Remember:

Celebrating our story: We will place the story of the poppy and the history of The Royal British Legion at the heartburn content, events and sites to ensure our remembrance work is well understood and valued by society.

Evolving Remembrance: We will and adapt our Remembrance our remembrance activities with greater focus on the specific needs of our Armed Forces community.

Widening Participation: We will increase the ways of participation in modern Remembrance to make it easier and more accessible to show respect and support.

Support:

Responding to Changing Needs: We will continue to deliver, improve and evolve our services and partnerships.

Introducing Earlier Interventions: We will help more people at an earlier stage by introducing earlier intervention or preventative services and support.

Modernising our Services: We will transform our service delivery and accessibility by understanding and embracing technology and digital platforms and social media.

Active Campaigning: We will achieve tangible, positive change for the Armed Forces community by enabling their voices to be heard, challenging disadvantage, and inspiring better provison

By delivering these long-term goals we are able to achieve our strategic outcomes, and ultimately our vision and mission

"Service Not Self"

WHO WE ARE ...

WHAT WE DO ...

HERE IN SPAIN ...

The Royal British Legion provides financial, social and emotional support to those who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces and their dependants.

The primary aim of the Legion is to support serving members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army, Royal Air Force, Reservists, V eterans, and their families. In Spain, we continuously strive to improve the assistance and support provided for veterans and their dependants of all ages.

The Legion as a whole is the major voice for the Armed Forces Community throughout the year and spends around £1.3 m. each week helping Beneficiaries across the world.

We campaign and lobby on a wide range of issues, including mental health, housing and homelessness, employment, community and adult care, skills development, and debt advice.

The Legion’s District North Spain operates from the French border to Baza in Andalucía – an area larger than the UK.

Our Branches offer comradeship to members as well as social activities. Our network of hardworking Caseworkers and Branch Community Support members deliver a service to our Beneficiaries resident in the area. The enquiries we receive are many and varied.

The Legion also coordinates with the British Embassy and its Consulates and other local charity organisations to give the best possible service to our Beneficiaries.

As well as new Members, we are always looking for people to assist us in the Legion’s support to Beneficiaries. If you have time to spare you might consider volunteering as a Caseworkers, a Telephone Buddy or even a Hospital/Home visitor. We provide the necessary training and pay travel and other related expenses. For further information please contact the District Community Support Coordinator.

(Mon – Fri 9.00am to 2.00pm)

We are the UK’s largest Armed Forces’

charity, with 180,000 members, 110,000

volunteers and a network of partners and

charities, helping us give support wherever

and whenever it’s needed.

Founded in 1921, the Legion is not just about those who fought in the two World Wars of the last century, but also those involved in the many conflicts since 1945 and those still fighting for the freedom we enjoy today.

We are also the Nation’s custodian of Remembrance; we remember those who lost their lives on active service in all conflicts; from the beginning of the First World War right up to the present day. We also remember all those who have served and their families, ensuring their sacrifice is never forgotten.

We are responsible for the Two Minute Silence on Remembrance Sunday and 11th November, bringing Remembrance into the National calendar.
