Although 'Remembrancetide' is the period in October/November that people associate with the Poppy Appeal, fundraising is carried out throughout the year with events such as Armed Forces day and by businesses and using all year tins to collect loose change from customers.

Main Poppy Appeal Collection Dates

The dates that the main stands will be operating this year are from Saturday 24th October to Saturday the 7th November.

Poppy Appeal Stands

This year our main stands will once again be at:
    Four Seasons Shopping Centre, Mansfield.
    Morrisons, Sutton Road, Mansfield.
    Sainsbury's, Nottingham Road, Mansfield.
    Tesco, Chesterfield Road South, Mansfield.

We are very grateful to our small army of volunteers who have previously manned these positions (although equally split between both sexes), as well as the staff and management of the stores who help to make our job easier. We are now starting to plan the rotas for the stands, so if you are interested in helping, please contact Mick. We rely on volunteers (as we at the branch are) and always looking for more people who are interested in helping. So if that might be YOU, please contact our Poppy Appeal Organiser, Mick (again, details below).

Volunteer slots are available most days in most places (although most Tesco morning slots already covered)

Collection Boxes

Many local businesses, organisations and schools also display collection boxes/ collecting tins for the Poppy Appeal, and last year 161 were distributed, greatly adding to the grand total.

We also managed to get a few volunteers and youth out street collecting however, sadly, it was difficult getting complete youth group involvement due to other commitments and lack of adult supervision.

If you would be able to help in distributing (& collecting) boxes and supplies or if you are a business and would like to offer a collection point for poppies; again, please contact our Poppy Appeal Organiser.
