Welcome to the Petts Wood Branch of The Royal British Legion
The Petts Wood Branch of the Royal British Legion has served the local community since 1937. We are one of over 700 branches across the country, bringing together members with a shared commitment to Remembrance, welfare and comradeship.
We meet at our Branch Headquarters, Queensway, Petts Wood, Orpington, Kent BR5 1DH. Branch meetings in 2026 are held at 8pm on 8 September, and 17 November (also AGM). The Branch Committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month (except August). All branch members are warmly encouraged to attend the branch meetings.
With over 527 members, we are an active part of the Petts Wood community. Whether you want to support our Poppy Appeal, attend Remembrance events, access welfare support or simply meet like-minded people, there is a place for you here — regardless of whether you have served in the Armed Forces.
Our History
The Petts Wood Branch was formed in 1937 as a Sub-Branch of Orpington, becoming a full Branch in 1942 following significant growth in membership. In 1947 the Branch purchased land in Queensway, founding its own Club — run entirely by members.
The current Branch and Club Headquarters has stood on that same site since 1987. Two plaques on the front of the building, dedicated in 2003, mark the Branch's 60th anniversary and the community that made it possible.
