The CWGC in Yeovil Cemetery Preston Road

There are some 77 CWG sites located around the Yeovil and District area, these include 303 Individual Graves in the Yeovil-Somerset and 91 in the Yeovil-Dorset Areas.

The largest of these site is the Royal Navy Cemetery with 105  Plots and 16 Plots in St Bartholomew Churchyard, Yeovilton. Yeovil Town Cemetery (Preston Rd, Yeovil BA21 3AG) has some 61 Plots. St James Church, Preston Plunket also contains CWG Plots with the Preston Plunket War Memorial (Preston Rd, Yeovil BA20 2FS) situated opposite the Bell Public House. There are some 56 Plots in Sherborne Town Cemetery with 56 Plots in Crewkerne (Townsend) Cemeteries.

Many of our Villages and Churchyards (no matter how small) may have 1 or more WW1 or WW2 (or both) War Graves as well as a local Cenotaph.

The CWGC, maintains these Graves on behalf of the Nation & Commonwealth, However, TRBL (via the Local Yeovil & District Branch) has the "Role of Service" to lay wreaths on behalf of Overseas Requests for "Acts Of Remembrance" as well as local community Remembrance Events.

All are welcome to attend the Yeovil & District RBL Branch small Service of Remembrance at the Yeovil Cemetery CWG Plot shortly after the Main Yeovil Town Remembrance Sunday Service (around 14.30?).

Additionally, at the beginning of December the Yeovil & District RBL Branch along with support from the Yeovil Town Council (YTC), will remove all bar one of the Wreaths Laid at the Town War Memorial, these will be re-laid at the Yeovil Cemetery CWG Plot, with a Perpetual Wreath remaining at the Town Memorial, again all welcome to attend
