The Royal British Legion was founded on May 15, 1921, to support veterans and their families in the aftermath of World War I, addressing the needs of those who suffered from physical and psychological injuries as well as the challenges of reintegration into civilian life.
As the years passed, and British military personnel wre engaged in later conflicts, the Royal British Legion extended support to serving personnel, veterans, reservists, and their families, broadening services to cover housing, employment, benefits advice, mental‑health care, bereavement support, and transition assistance.
There is now access to trained caseworkers, advice services benefits, housing, mental health and moved toward outcomes-based support.
There is Increased emphasis on mental health, PTSD, suicide prevention, and family support. The Royal British Legion are in partnerships with NHS and specialist charities.
Modern campaigning and advocacy on veterans’ rights, pensions, and transition into civilian life.
