Branch Name Change Proposal.
The Chair informed members that the National Memorial Arboretum is changing its charitable structure and branding to become the National Remembrance Gardens.
Members were advised that:
The National Memorial Arboretum and associated charity structures are being consolidated. The change forms part of a wider remembrance strategy aimed at making remembrance more accessible and engaging for future generations.
The branch was originally established to support the National Memorial Arboretum.
Discussion took place regarding whether the branch should also change its name to align with the new organisation.
Key points raised:
Members recognised the importance of remaining aligned with the Arboretum's future direction.
Some concerns were expressed about losing historical identity (it is understood that the branch number and history from 2007 will not change); however members generally supported maintaining unity with the organisation's future development, with the need to update the branch standard.
Motion:
That the branch changes its name to align with the National Remembrance Gardens.
Proposed: Anthony Frith
Seconded: Lynne Richardson
A show of hands was conducted.
Resolved: Motion carried.
Actions:
1.Chair to submit required documentation to Membership Council.
Secretary to produce these Minutes and supporting paperwork to accompany the application.

Standard Replacement
Members were advised:
That the current standard would need to be changed once approval for the name change had been given.
The Royal British Legion has indicated once the name change has been approved it would fund the production (new standard and all paraphernalia), dedication and laying-up of the old standard.
Therefore a replacement standard could be obtained under the funding offer. With an estimated production time is 6 to 8 weeks.
Provisional Date
A possible Standard Dedication Service was discussed.
Provisional Date: 24 October at 11:00 hrs
This date is subject to approval of the name change and delivery of the new standard.
Motion:
That the branch requests a new standard to align with the National Remembrance Gardens.

Action:
1.Once name change approval documentation is received to forward this to Beth Slade liaise with company to produce the new standard.
2. Paperwork to be sent to MEO for approval.
