Minutes of Colerne RBL Meeting – 1 Apr 26
1. The Chair opened the meeting with 7 members present, welcoming Piran, a new member.
2. There were no comments on the minutes of the previous meeting.
3. The financial position was not reported as the Treasurer was not present (the balance in January was noted as £3424.76).
4. Central Funding Bid. The Secretary updated the meeting: a bid for £750 had been submitted, £300 for Remembrance, £200 for AF Day and £250 for the Clay / BBQ event. We had received acknowledgement in the for of a couple of clarification questions. More to follow as to whether the bid had been successful at the next meeting.
5. May Fair – Sat 16th May. An outline plan was agreed. Mark will bring the standard and Tom a Nerf Gun shooting alley (and the painted photo boards), Bill has a ‘splat the rat’ set based on quoits and mouse traps. Bill also has a box of RBL gizzits as prizes.
6. Veteran’s Breakfast. The Chair confirmed the event for the coming Saturday with 11 members signed up.
7. Grave Mowing. Jim asked for this to be deferred to the next meeting where the rota can be discussed. Tom offered use of his petrol mower.
8. Regarding fund raising in 2026, the Tower of London visit and the Summer social, brief discussions were had. The general view was that we may plan for a major fund-raiser next year, noting the significant level of fund raising undertaken over the last few years.
9. Armed Forces Day – 27th June. The meeting agreed to aim for a small flag raising event involving the school and the regiment – Tom offered to take the lead. Planning assumption is this will take place on Fri 26th June.
10. Future events & Parish Magazine notices. The following would likely feature (noting that the list will be reviewed at the next meeting): Branch meetings on 6th May and 3rd June, Armed Forces Day event 26th June (and possibly the Camp event on 27th if it is happening), and potentially a June Veteran’s Breakfast.
