and youngsters, 12-18? Join as a Youth Member; you get it for FREE...
However, you youngsters have to do it the old paper way, because signed parental permission is required.
Membership, which includes a quarterly glossy magazine, in 2023 Membership (of up to four Branches at once) was still LESS than forty pence a week, and if there are enough of us contributing just that, we can do a lot of good. Hopefully you'll see from this Web site, that we can have a lot of fun together. We've said it before and we'll say it again, you DO NOT have to be ex-service to join us, everyone is welcome.
YOUR ONLY COMMITMENT is your annual subscription, which, as stated above, apart from supporting a really good cause, gets you a quarterly magazine telling you what's happening in the RBL around the country. BUT that also allows you to attend our meetings, events and trips out whenever you wish, visit RBL Branches anywhere, and if you wish, join-in our fund raising activities
NOTE: Via the "selfservice - admember" Web link at the top of this page, payment options are DD, Credit/Debit Card or PayPal. IF YOU WISH TO PAY CASH, OR BY CHEQUE please contact your Branch Treasurer for a hard copy application form OR, go to a meeting and it'll be arranged then and there.
BUT WITH GREAT REGRET, we have to advise you that you can't join Byfield & District any more because at our Branch's AGM in November 2023, we had to vote to close our Branch - despite repeated requests over many months prior, NONE of OUR MEMBERS volunteered to step into any of our retiring Committee Members' shoes.

Now its 2023 and this past three years have been really bad for seeing new faces; we've lost more Members to the grim reaper than we recruited. Times too are definitely changing, and we need to face up to that. Here's hoping for a better future.
2020 & 2021 were washouts for recruiting but there are excuses for that. In 2019 we added more Members than in previous years simply because we met more people face to face. That was because of our attendance at fetes and fundraisers around our District. In 2020 and 2021 of course, we were unable to do that because of the restrictions imposed to fight the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic but things are now back to a new normal, so please help by joining up and joining-in.
In 2019 we abandoned our previous recruiting poster idea and created banners to describe "Where the money goes" instead, as part of our new push for new recruits through our attending local fetes around our District...
We used a poster to start our 1918 Recruiting Campaign in May, with the prophetic example shown below...
e.g. for perusing whilst waiting for a bus...
And one for displaying in our vehicles...
Posters were available in A2, A4 and "small" sizes - if you want one we might have some left.
The poster used the year before is shown below, that's 2017's poster outside Hellidon Village Hall
Our campaign said "AND REMEMBER: There IS such a thing as a free lunch!"
Because back then, if a Member recruited a new Member, we bought them a lunch at one of our "social gatherings"...
Please come and join us, we really DO need YOUR support.
REMEMBER, YOUR ONLY COMMITMENT is your annual subscription, (currently thirty five pence a week), which, apart from supporting a really good cause, gets you a quarterly magazine telling you what's happening in the RBL around the country. BUT that also allows you to attend our meetings, events and trips out whenever you wish, visit RBL Branches anywhere, and join-in our fund raising activities.
AND ALSO REMEMBER, all are welcome, men and women are Members of our Branch and there's no age restriction after your 12th birthday; also you DO NOT have to have been in the Services to join the Royal British Legion...
