Saturday 28th August 2021 proved to be an auspicious occasion for the Branch.

As you are aware, the Royal British Legion was founded in 1921 and the Bury St. Edmunds Branch was also founded in 1921. Consequently, 2021 was also the centenary year of the founding of the Branch. To commemorate the centenary Head Office commissioned a centenary pennant which could be an integral component of a Branch’s Standard providing that the Branch had been operative continually for one hundred years.

Fingers were crossed that by the time of our service, the restrictions placed upon us all due to Covid would be at least reduced or hopefully removed to enable us to conduct the service in the ‘normal’ and traditional manner. Fortunately, by the time of our service, the maximum number allowed to attend had been eliminated and the congregation were allowed to sing the hymns.

August saw a small representation of the branch at both RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath, we were invited to attend family Diversity events at both USAF Bases.

                                Joan Mann Sports Day

We were honored to be invited to attend the Joan Mann sports day RAF Mildenhall, at the invitation of the Commander 100th Refueling Wing.
