Conference Resolutions 2024

The Board of Trustees have released their responses to the resolutions that were debated at Annual Conference 2024.  You will note the the Board of Trustees has not upheld all of the motions that were carried at Conference.  Where they have made such a decision, they have outlined their reasons.  If you have any questions, you can send them to any of the Branch Officers

Membership Fees

At the Annual Conference, it was agreed to increase membership fees.

Starting this September, the membership fee will increase by £2 each year for the next five years, until 2028. This means that from the 4th of September, new members and those renewing will pay £20. The change will take place automatically at renewal.

You will be aware that, your Branch also levies a fee which is added to your membership fee and then paid into the Branch account.  Your Committee decided that, given the continuing increased cost of living prices, we would not increase that fee this year.

Update from the National Chair

The following link provides an update from National Chair - Jason Coward.

If any members see themselves as future leaders within the organisation, whether at Branch, County or National level, then you may be interested in the ‘Aspire’ Programme.  You may not be ready to volunteer just yet but this is an opportunity to fuel that potential for leadership.

Direct Debit Payments for Membership Renewals

The RBL has received feedback that there is some confusion over how Direct Debits payments for annual membership fees appear on members' bank statements. The RBL confirmed that payments show under the account name ‘Charles Novacroft’, not RBL. These are all legitimate payments, as Charles Novacroft is a trusted payment partner. Members who are Direct Debit payers were advised in recent renewal letters.  A follow up email has now also been sent to reduce any further misunderstanding.
