Poppy Appeal 2025

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported this year's Poppy Appeal. Once again, the people of Ballyclare demonstrated tremendous generosity and commitment to the Armed Forces community, and I am delighted to report that the Appeal raised an outstanding £18,340.90.

This remarkable total reflects the compassion and support that exists throughout our town. As was highlighted in correspondence received from the Head of the Poppy Appeal, these funds help ensure that the Royal British Legion can continue to be there for members of the Armed Forces family when they face life's most challenging and life-changing circumstances.

I would particularly like to thank our local schools, whose fundraising efforts and enthusiasm were exceptional. Their support has been greatly appreciated and demonstrates that the values of remembrance and service continue to be understood and embraced by younger generations.

My sincere thanks also go to the local cadets and the 117th Ballyclare Girls' Brigade, who volunteered their time to staff the Poppy Appeal table at ASDA. They represented themselves and their organisations with professionalism, enthusiasm and pride, making a significant contribution to the success of the Appeal.

As many members will be aware, I will shortly be stepping down from the role of Poppy Appeal Organiser. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving in this position and would like to thank everyone who has supported me during my time in the role. I will, of course, work closely with my successor to ensure a smooth transition and to help lay the foundations for another successful Appeal next year.

Finally, thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, sold poppies, hosted collection tins or supported the Appeal in any way. Your contribution truly makes a difference to those within the Armed Forces community who need our support most.
