At the Eastbourne National Conference in 2009, our Chairman
submitted 2 proposals before Conference, in order to recover funds
from Local Authorities, where the Legion has paid Disabled
Facilities Grants. The proposals were accepted unanimously, and are
now part of the Legion rules, saving us over £3.5 million pounds
per year.
In September 2009, our branch re-dedicated the grave of the
Great Grandfather of one of our members who was a survivor of the
Anglo Zulu War Rorkes Drift battle. A local man of Irish descent he
was laid to rest in an unmarked grave at the local Glyn Taf
Cemetery, Pontypridd.
A large gathering of family members, civic dignitaries, members
of the public and ex-Service personnel attended the service. Any
person wishing to obtain information from our member Maria Kerr
concerning her research in finding all about this soldier can do so
by contacting her at [email protected].
