The service for the Laying-up of the Old Windermere Branch Standard and Dedication of the New Standard took place on Saturday 8th October 2016 at the Parish Church of St. Martin, Bowness-on-Windermere.
Following the National Anthem the Branch Chairman, Peter Lever, handed the old Standard to the reverend James Richards saying: "I commit this sacred Standard of the Windermere Branch of the Royal British Legion to you as Rector of the Parish of Windermere, for safe keeping in this Holy Church for evermore".
The reverend James Richards then responded: "I accept this charge".
After a short service the new Standard was dedicated.
Both the Old and New Standards were accompanied by 1264 (Windermere) Squadron ATC's Standard and Standard Bearer as escort.
The group photo shown below was taken after this quite moving ceremony. The Royal British Legion Cumberland and Westmorland County Chairman, Mr. Tony Crane, also attended.
