This November marks 100 years since the Windermere Cenotaph was first unveiled.
A service has been carried out there annually ever since. The Royal British Legion is no longer able to organise the annual remembrance parade at the Windermere War Memorial. In order to ensure that this important tradition continues the Town Council have agreed to take on the responsibility.
We appreciate your support and patience as we get our systems set up. We are extremely grateful to Sunbelt Rentals who have generously offered to carry out the road closure free of charge and to Westmorland and Furness Council who have waived the road closure administration fee in honour of those who gave their lives in the service of our country.
WREATH ORDERING: One thing that is different this year is ordering the wreath should now be done by individual organisations online at the Poppy Shop. The representatives should have the wreath delivered to their own address, fill in the attached card and bring it with them on the day. The wreaths traditionally used at this service are the medium wreaths which you can order here: https://www.poppyshop.org.uk/products/medium-poppy-wreath INVITATIONS: The Town Council was given a list of organisations but no contact details for groups who normally participate in the event. Invitations have been sent out this week but if your organisation has not got one and wishes to participate please contact the clerk at clerk@windermere-tc.gov.uk
