Cumbria Poppy Appeal Launch 27th October 2017
The 2017 Cumbria Poppy Appeal has been launched today & the first poppy has been attached to the Archway at the Lakes School.
We were delighted to be involved in a project earlier this year with a group of students from the Lakes School, Windermere, Impact International & James Cropper. The Year 7 students were given the task of designing & building a structure to display poppies during the Poppy Appeal for use in a public place. The students were extremely creative &, in groups, created several different structures.
The winning structure was an archway. The students plan to have 300+ poppies placed on their archway along with messages of remembrance placed on the inside of the archway. We have asked communities around the region to take inspiration from this project & recreate their own Poppy Archway for their town, village, hamlet or organisation.
We look forward to seeing the winning structure, the Poppy Archway, replicated in towns & villages throughout Cumbria, Isle of Man & beyond in November.
We are also working on a professionally recreated archway for use in several high profile public places across the region.
