At 07-30 on the 1st July 2016, members of the Winchcombe RBL and members of the public, attended a short commemoration event at the Winchcombe War Memorial.
At exactly 07-30 three blasts of a whistle were sounded followed by one minutes silence. One hundred years ago whistles were sounded in the trenches at the Somme as a signal to the men to ' Go over the top'.
