Whitwell

The Royal British Legion is recognised as the national custodian of Remembrance.

Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, is the day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today.

A Church Service is held at 1100hrs at All Saints Church, St Paul's Waldenbury. The Kohima and Tribute are both said by Branch members along with a minutes silence to remember those who died.

Branch members then gather at 1445hrs and march from the Bull PH High Street, Whitwell to the War Memorial where a Service of Remembrance takes place at 1500hrs.  Following the Service the Branch members march back up the High Street to the Bull PH for refreshments. This is well supported by the local Village community.

During the afternoon March and the Service of Remembrance, roads entering and leaving Whitwell are closed for about 30 minutes.
