West Clandon Branch has shown its fundraising skills by once again improving on its Poppy Appeal total. We've topped [£4,5000.........] passing last year's final total of [£3,800............].
Thank You to all the people of West Clandon Village who have been so generous again.
Fund raising for the Poppy Appeal is held during what is called "The Closed Period" 23rd October
to 8th November. Any Legion event that raises funds during this period is in aid of the Poppy
Appeal.
The West Clandon Branch actively supports the Poppy Appeal, led by the Branch’s Poppy Appeal
Organiser who liaises with National and County Poppy Appeal staffs.
Wearing a poppy is is never compulsory but is greatly appreciated by those whom it is intended to
support.
When and how you choose to wear a poppy is a reflection of your individual experiences and
personal memories.
By wearing a Poppy:
• We remember the sacrifice of the Armed Forces community from the United Kingdom and
the Commonwealth.
• We pay tribute to the special contribution of families and of the emergency services.
• We acknowledge innocent civilians who have lost their lives in conflict and acts of
terrorism.
Remembrance unites people of all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds but it is also deeply
personal.
It could mean wearing a poppy in November, before Remembrance Sunday.
Everyone is free to remember in their own way, or to choose not to remember at all.
