The Poppy Appeal in the Watton area

Watton and District Branch has demonstrated its fundraising skills once again on its Poppy Appeal total. This year (2018) it looks like we have raised approximately £12000 but there are still some donations to come in.  The people of Watton have again proved how generous they are.  We were asked to provide a display for Adocks Electrical shop window which showed a conflict timeline for the past 100 years.  A variety of militaria on a bed of knitted poppies (about a 1000 in all).  The poppies caused a lot of interest with people wanting to buy them so a box of poppies supplied by the local W.I. was placed in the shop and raised £235 for the poppy appeal.  Tesco store manager graciously allowed us to collect in the shop foyer and this was our most successful collection area with great assistance from the Rotary club and 1st Watton Guides(affiliated unit).  Thank to everyone again for their donations and the collectors for giving their time.
