Newsletter Sept 2025

Dear member,

Welcome to the latest edition The RBL Stourbridge Branch’s newsletter.

With there being no monthly branch meeting in July, this month’s meeting was the first since Mick Sage left us for pastures new. However, thanks to modern technology, he did join us via video link despite it being 2 am in Tailand. Thanks to all those who attended. Branch meetings are held, at The Old Edwardians Club, Drury Lane off Market Street, Stourbridge, on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 20.00. The next one will be 8th October; all members are welcome.

About 30 members and friends attended the skittles evening held at The Queen’s Head on Enville Street on 25th July. A big thank you to Joe (aka Keith) for overseeing the skittles and keeping score, to the staff at The Queens Head for the marvellous spread and looking after us so well and to Black Country Ales for donating first prize. Full report on https://branches.britishlegion.org.uk/branches/stourbridge/news-events/25th-july-2025-skittles-evening/. Future events will be announced here or on our website, suggestions/volunteers always welcome.

A big thank you, once again, goes to Tim, Tracy and the team for the marvellous hospitality and food put on at the Old Edwardians Club for the Veterans’ Breakfast on 26th July. This informal event is where a group of likeminded people meet to enjoy a discounted breakfast, socialise and raise some money for the charity through the raffle. https://branches.britishlegion.org.uk/branches/stourbridge/news-events/26th-july-veterans-breakfast/.  The next breakfast is on Saturday 18th October, if you are a veteran and have not previously attended, but would like to, please get in contact.

Preparations for the annual Poppy Appeal are in full swing. Suzzanne, the Poppy Appeal Organiser (PAO), will shortly be putting out a call for volunteer. So, if you can help in any way please contact her.

Parkfield Grange Care Home, 31 Hagley Rd, Stourbridge, continue to welcome us hosting Veterans Coffee Mornings on the 2nd Tuesday and last Thursday of each month 10.30-12.00. The next few are 25th September 8th and 30th October all are welcome. Thanks once again to Emily and her team.
