Dear member,
Welcome to the latest edition The RBL Stourbridge Branch’s newsletter.
It was a little quiet at this month’s branch meeting as we have a few members away on holiday and some who have ongoing medical conditions. I shan’t mention them by name, but our thoughts and best wishes go out to all that are struggling at this time. Branch meetings are held at The Old Edwardians Club, Drury Lane off Market Street, Stourbridge, on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 20.00. Next month’s meeting is the AGM will be held on 12th November; all members are welcome.
The next Veterans’ breakfast is on Saturday 18th October at the Old Edwardians Club, Drury Lane. If you are a veteran and have not been contacted by us but would like to attend, please get in touch with either myself or Sue, the treasurer, details below or text Sue on 07982 513952. This informal event is where a group of likeminded people meet to enjoy a discounted breakfast, socialise and raise some money for the charity through the raffle. The cost of the breakfast is £10 and we will need to know if you wish to attend no later than Wednesday 15th October. A big thank you, once again, to Tim, Tracy and the team for their continued support of this event.
The annual Poppy Appeal will be upon us shortly. Suzanne, the Poppy Appeal Organiser (PAO), is busy coordinating volunteers, organising stock and compiling rotas for the event. She still has a few gaps to fill so, if you can help in any way please contact her.
The annual Remembrance Parade in Mary Stevens Park take place on Sunday 9th November 2025. Planning is in full swing with members from The Legion, The ARC and Dudley Council pulling together to ensure the event runs as smoothly as possible. The parade will form up in the carpark at 10.20 and march off at 10.35 in order that all personnel will be in position in front of the war memorial by 10.50.
Parking in Mary Stevens will be either non-existent or severely restricted on the day. Full details will be posted on both the branch and the council websites/Facebook pages. Anyone travelling by car should be aware of these restrictions and make alternate arrangements.
Parkfield Grange Care Home, 31 Hagley Rd, Stourbridge, continue to welcome us hosting Veterans Coffee Mornings on the 2nd Tuesday and last Thursday of each month 10.30-12.00. The next few are 14th and 30th October, all are welcome. The one on the 11th November will still take place in Parkfield Grange but will have a delayed start, after the Act of Remembrance which takes place in Mary Stevens Park at 11.00. Thanks once again to Emily and her team.
