Dear member,

Welcome to the latest edition The RBL Stourbridge Branch’s newsletter.

The Branch AGM took place at the Old Edwardians club on 12th November, thanks to all who attended. As no new volunteers came forward all Officers of the Branch and Committee members were re-elected. There will be no Branch Meeting next month, instead we will be holding an informal social evening at the Old Edwardians for 19.00 on Wednesday 10th December, all members and partners are welcome but please indicate attendance by email to myself or to The Treasurer, so we have an idea of numbers. Branch meetings will resume on Wednesday 14th January at 20.00.

The Veterans’ breakfast is on Saturday 18th October was well attended. A big thank you, once again, to Tim, Tracy and the team for their continued support of this event. The next one is on Saturday 17th January at the Old Edwardians Club, Drury Lane, a calling will go out in the New Year. If you are a veteran and have not been contacted by us but would like to attend, please get in touch with either myself or Sue, the treasurer, details below. This informal event is where a group of likeminded people meet to enjoy a discounted breakfast, socialise and raise some money for the charity through the raffle. The cost of the breakfast is £10 and we will need to know if you wish to attend no later than Wednesday 14th January.

The annual Poppy Appeal collection is now over but Suzanne, the Poppy Appeal Organiser (PAO), hasn’t had time to rest as the big count is now on. Totals will be issued in due course. Once again, a massive thank you to Suzanne and all the volunteers for giving up their precious time. Without the volunteers it just doesn’t work, so thanks!

The annual Remembrance Parade in Mary Stevens Park took place on Sunday 8th November 2025. The weather was kind to us, and many people have said it was the biggest one ever. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped in the organisation, set up and running of the event, again the volunteers are the key. The Act of Remembrance on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month was also well attended and thank the Old Swinford Hospital CCF for their support.

Parkfield Grange Care Home, 31 Hagley Rd, Stourbridge, continue to welcome us hosting Veterans Coffee Mornings on the 2nd Tuesday and last Thursday of each month 10.30-12.00. The next few are 27th November and 9th December, all are welcome. There won’t be one on the 25th December, I think we’ll all be a bit busy, so we’re now into the New Year on the 13th and 22nd January. Thanks once again to Emily and her team.
