Woollen Poppies

Seeking Volunteers to make woollen poppies for the
Royal British Legion (RBL) Poppy Appeal

The Stafford Branch of the RBL is now planning for this year’s Poppy Appeal fortnight (29 October – 13 November 2022). First off is the project “Woollen Poppies”.

We hope that this year’s project will see the same sort of massive support that we gained last year, where a mixture of over 2,000 home-made crocheted and knitted “Woollen Poppies” were kindly contributed by such wonderful people. These “Woollen Poppies” were extremely popular and hugely appreciated by the general public who visited our attended Poppy Appeal stands and generously donated towards our charity.

We are seeking volunteers to either crotchet or knit poppies and gift them to our Poppy Appeal stands. We are able to supply both the crotchet and knitting patterns (if you need) we only ask that you provide your own wool, brooch pins and time.

We also have the kind assistance of Dee and Terry Cope of The Bird in Hand Pub (1 Victoria Square, Stafford ST16 2AQ), who have kindly agreed to be a drop-off point for completed poppies. We can also collect your woollen creations from your home, if you cannot make it to our collection point.

Hoping you are able to assist and enable us to again raise donations which will make a real difference, to real people, with real problems.

Please can you also SHARE this appeal to anyone who does not have access to Facebook, who you believe may wish to volunteer for this worthwhile project.

Thank you.
