The Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Mr Gordon Tollefson CStJ, JP, DL, FRSPH, ACH, represented Her Majesty The Queen at Spenborough's Remembrance Sunday Service.
Baroness Pinnock of Cleckheaton was also in attendance, together with a good representations of other local organisations, including Veterans, Chamber of Trade and Commerce, Freemasons, Spenborough Forget me Not Fund, Police and Fire and Rescue Services, Cleckheaton Rotary and Lions clubs, Army Cadets ( Spen Detachment) and Spen Valley Scouts.
A good attendance of the public gathered around the Cleckheaton War Memorial as the parade led by the Emley Brass Band and under the direction of the Parade Marshal, Branch Chairman Eddie Morton, left the Town hall for the Memorial Park.
The War Memorial had been expertly cleaned in the weeks prior to the service and looked splendid as the representatives laid their wreaths.
The parade then marched back to the Town Hall for dimissal and the Remembrance Day Service was held in St John's Church, Cleckheaton.
The service was conducted by the Branch Chaplain, Rev Ray Borrett and assisted by Father Nicholas Hird and former Branch Chaplain Rev Brunel James.
The Women's Section again provided tea and scones which were appreciated by the congregation.
