Garden of Remembrance
The annual Garden of Remembrance took place on Monday 4 November at the front of Cleckheaton Town Hall.
This garden is for members of the public to lay a cross at the start of Remembrance week in a small garden laid for the purpose by the Branch Chairman. Crosses are then relocated to the main War Memorial on Remembrance Sunday.
The short service was conducted by the Branch Chaplain Ray Borrett (Methodist Minister for Cleckheaton and Liversedge) assisted by Father Nicholas Hird of St Peter's Roman Catholic Church.
The invited guest speaker was the Deputy Chief Fire Officer Mr David Walton QFSM, DMS, MIFireE, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
School children from local schools attended and being a little wet from the experience, we all retired afterwards to St John's Church for light refreshments, provided by the Spenborough Branch Women's Section.
