REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY 11 NOVEMBER 2018

On this special day, exactly 100 years since the end of The Great War, a larger crowd than usual assembled in Cleckheaton Memorial Park and lined the Parade route.

Representing Her Majesty the Queen was the Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Mr Gordon Tollefson CStJ, JP, DL, FRSPH, ACH.

Also in attendance was Baroness Pinnock of Cleckheaton representing The House of Lords and dignitaries from the areas Associations acting as wreath bearers.

Assembled in Church Street at the side of Cleckheaton Town Hall, the Parade Marshal and Branch Chairman, Mr Eddie Morton ordered the Parade to march off at 2.30pm to follow the route to Cleckheaton Memorial Park.

The Parade was led by the Emley Brass Band and included a large number of Veterans, local Associations, Army and Air Cadets and Spen Valley Scouts.

Following wreath laying at the Memorial, the Parade marched back to the Town Hall and dismissed. The Remembrance Day Service was held in St John's Church with a large congregation, conducted by Branch Chaplain The Reverend Ray Borrett.
