CHILDREN REMEMBER THE END OF THE GREAT WAR
To mark the Centenary of the end of the Great War in 2018, the Branch wanted to have a project that would involve local schoolchildren and provide some refection of the sacrifice involved, partticularly at a local level.
We have 58 military graves in Spenborough, both WWI and WWII and we felt that at this time we we would like to mark them all with a cross and a small union flag.
To assist us, the Branch invited local schools and the response was excellent from Scholes Village Primary, Whitechapel C of E Primary, Roberttown Junior Infants, Birkenshaw C of E and East Bierley. Branch members welcomed the children and explained the significance of the CWGC headstones in the context of The Great War.
