Spenborough

The actions of local men at The Battle of the Somme, are commemorated in the Spenborough Branch's ongoing exhibition of The Great War.

Opened at Cleckheaton Library on 4 July (following a preview at the Cleckheaton Folk festival at the Town Hall on 1 July), this years content covers the battle of the Somme and the part played by our local men of the 1st/4th Duke of Wellingtons.

A display case has also being filled with "trench artefacts" made from used shell cases and other battlefield debris.

Literature produced by The Royal British Legion for 1916 has also proved useful and informative.

The exhibition is on display until 1 August 2016.
