Spenborough

Armed Forces Day Flagw

The Armed Forces Flag was once again raised in Cleckheaton Memorial Park, to acknowledge the high regard in which our men and women of the Armed Forces are held.

Spenborough Branch members gathered on a slightly drizzly morning for a short service, led by Branch Chaplain, Terry Brewis. Under the directions of the Parade Marshall, Branch Chairman Eddie Morton, the Branch Standard was paraded through the park to the War Memorial.

After prayers for our Armed Forces, the Last Post was played, followed by two minutes silence and Kohima Epitaph.

The Armed Forces Flag was broken by Branch Member, Mr Derrick Yates (late Parachute Regiment).

This event marked the start of Armed Forces Week and the main Spenborough event is Armed Forces Day on Saturday 25 June at 11.00am.
