Spenborough

Following a request from Heckmondwike Library and as part of the Great War Project, the Branch produced some banners depicting the vital role played by the Indian Army, particularly in the early stages of the war.

The Indian Army was the largest volunteer army in the world and contingents of infantry and cavalry were rushed to the Western Front to stem the advancing German Armies.
