SPONSORED WALK BY WHITCLIFFE MOUNT STUDENT.

A student from Whitcliffe Mount School has just completed a sponsored walk around the War Memorials in the area, to mark the Centenary of the outbreak of The Great War in 1914.

Katie Wilby, aged 15 set herself the challenge of doing the walk with the sponsorship money being donated to The Royal British Legion. (There was no pressure applied here, just because her grandfather, Malcolm Wilkinson is Vice Chairman of the Spenborough Branch!).

Accompanying Katie on the walk, were her sister Rebecca and her dad, Mick.

Starting at The Spenborough War Memorial in Cleckheaton Memorial Park, they proceeded to Heckmondwike Memorial in Green Park, over the hill to Batley, on to Dewsbury Town Centre Memorial on Longcauseway and returning to the start in Cleckheaton.

This 10 mile walk was completed in 3 hours which is a brilliant achievement!

At the time of entering this on the web site, the sponsorship money is still being collected, but the total amount will be entered here soon.

WELL DONE Katie and also Rebecca and Mick.
