Spenborough's parade started a little earlier this year, since The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Band had to leave immediately afterwards, to give a Remembrance performance at Ypres.
As usual a good number of people came to watch the Remembrance Day Parade and Wreath laying in Cleckheaton's Memorial Park, held on a lovely, sunny and crisp November afternoon.
To represent her Majesty The Queen, the Branch were delighted to welcome once again The Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Mr Gordon Tollefson CStJ, JP, DL, FRSPH, ACH.
Under the direction of the Parade Marshall, Branch Chairman Eddie Morton, the Parade marched down to Memorial Park, with a tender from The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service bringing up the rear.
The wreaths were laid with solemn dignity to music by The West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Band under the baton of their Musical Director Mr Lee Whitworth.
Laying a wreath for the last time in his capacity as Member of Parliament for Batley and Spen was Mr Mike Wood.
However, laying a wreath for the first time following her elevation to The House of Lords was Councillor, Baroness Pinnock of Cleckheaton.
The Last Post and Reveille were played by the Band's bugler and the Branch Chairman delivered the Kohima Ephitat.
Saluting the Memorial during the march past, the parade then marched back though town, before being dismissed at the Town Hall.
The Annual Church Service then followed at St John's Church, conducted by the Branch Chaplain, The Reverend Brunel James assisted by Mr Terry Brewis.
Tea and biscuits followed the Service and once again, the Branch Chairman and members express their thanks to the ladies of The Women's Section - Spenborough Branch and St John's Church for the facilities.
