The Branch were delighted to welcome The Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Mrs Kate Moreton-Deakin, to the dedication and opening of The Garden of Remembrance at 11.00am on Monday 3 November 2014.
Spenborough people turned out on a nice crisp November morning for this now popular annual event. The Garden is available in a prominent position at the front of Cleckheaton Town Hall and provides an area for townspeople to lay a cross and have a moment of reflection.
Following the placing of official crosses and a wreath from The Royal British Legion, members of the public were invited to place their own crosses.
It was nice to welcome once again, schoolchildren from The Howard Park Community School accompanied by their Headteacher, Mrs Karen Vickers.
The Spenborough Branch is once again indebted to The Women's Section and in particular to Mrs Wendy Walker for providing tea, coffee, biscuits and the now traditional buttered scones!
