ARMED FORCES DAY - 23 JUNE 2014

The Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Gordon Tollefson CStJ, JP, DL, FRSPH, ACH, was the Special Guest at the ceremony to mark the start of Armed Forces Week 2014, which was held around the Cleckheaton War Memorial on a lovely warm summers day.

He paid tribute to both the men and women of our Armed Forces, currently serving the Country today, as well as the Veterans of past generations.

Wreaths were laid on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen, by the Deputy Lieutenant and on behalf of the Branch by Barry Scott (Royal Engineers).

The Service was conducted by the Branch Chaplain, Rev Brunel James.

Tea and the now traditional scones were served in St Pauls Catholic Church hall. The Branch Chairman, Eddie Morton expressed his thanks to Father Peter Smith for letting us have use of the hall and once again, to the ladies of the Women's Section, Spenborough Branch for provision of the refreshments.
