Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic which caused the closure of Religious establishments this years VE Day and VJ Day commemorations had to be cancelled.

The Branch circulated ‘posters and flags’ encouraging the displaying of the Union Flag (Union Jack Flag) from the 8^th May 2020 (VE Day) until the 15^th August 2020 (VJ Day).   

To commemorate VE Day our Chairman (Keith Astbury) and Standard Bearer (Martin Rowe) Paraded outside the Sampford Peverell Village Hall at 11 a.m. on the 8^th May 2020, observing the Last Post, 2 minutes silence and the National Anthem.  Due to self-isolation Branch members were not allowed to attend.

On VJ Day, Saturday 15^th August 2020, the Chairman and Standard Bearer will Parade at 11 a.m. outside the Sampford Peverell Village Hall and commemorate the end of the war by observing the Last Post, 2 minutes silence and the National Anthem.  With the slight relaxing of Covid-19 rules the R.B.L. advise all Branch Members are invited to attend outside commemorations at the Sampford Peverell Village Hall to Commemorate VJ Day providing all ‘safe distancing guidance are complied with and observed.
