My name is Dave Greenwood and i am the standard bearer for the Ryde branch of the Royal British legion,i am also the Vice Chairman and recruitment advisor.
the picture on the left is when i first carried a standard in public for the legion and that was just over two years ago at a funeral,i have taken part in many parades and events since then but i am so proud and honoured to be carrying the standard for the branch where ever it may be.
I am also a member of the Royal British Legion Riders branch which is why i put the second picture on to show two different sides of me in the legion but i think it does show that you can be silly and enjoy yourself as this photo shows ,was taken at the local IOW V-Dub festival which the riders were there to marshall their drive out.

On the 8th august 2018 Terry Clarkson (Branch Chairman and Wreath Bearer) and Dave Greenwood (standard Bearer) will be attending GP90 in Ypres Belgium which will be the largest parade ever to be organised by the Legion to date, the parade will end up at the Menin Gate for a service to remember the fallen .
For more information please look up GP90 which will describe the event in better detail.
GP90 was a huge success and for myself(Dave Greenwood) standard bearer for ryde branch it was a truly memorable event and trying to put into words the emotions that i felt during the three days of battlefield tours and the parade are hard to put into words.
I was overwelmed with the comradeship shown by everyone on the trip and on parade day at Ypres and the Menin gate, I feel very proud to have represented my branch and the town of Ryde at the Great Pilgrimage 90 and the two photo's are
Left: Isle of Wight contingent of standard bearers and our Parade marshall/Ryde Royal British Legion branch chairman.
Right : Terry Clarkson ( Ryde RBL branch chairman ) and Dave Greenwood ( Standard bearer and Vice chairman Ryde Rbl branch ).

The two following pictures were taken during the parade at the Menin Gate in Ypres on the 8th august 2018 which goes to show the standard bearers just about to march through the Menin gate and the other shows the standards formed up at the Menin gate (abot 1150).
