The Ross and District branch of the Royal British Legion was among the first to be established in 1921, merely seven weeks after the formal founding of the British Legion. In subsequent years, the branch enjoyed strong support and, at one point, boasted a membership of over 300. As the veterans who had served in World War I passed on, the numbers dwindled before rising again after the conclusion of World War II.

The records indicate that the Branch has always been quite active. Right from the outset, there were annual dinners, coach trips, concerts, whist drives, and so forth, all of which were well attended. At that time, the RBL also boasted a very strong Women’s Section, which undoubtedly contributed to the success of these events. |
The Ross-on-Wye and District Branch continues to thrive, with an exceptional group of individuals from diverse backgrounds dedicated to advancing the Branch. We have recently welcomed several new members, and our events consistently enjoy strong support from the local community. |
