Queen's Jubilee Visit to Hyndburn 2012
The day dawned bright cool and windy as we left all suited and booted to assemble at St James Church in Accrington three of our members were selected to meet and greet the Queen and HRH Prince Phillip in the market hall and seven of us were parading to do the march past at the town hall.
We left the area of the church and moved to our forming up point at 1400hrs our Legion standard was being carried by Mrs Carol Green as her husband was a meeter and greeter.
Then we had the good old military event called rush around and wait and wait we did, with about every 10 minutes somebody telling us "only another 5 minutes" then at about 1600 hrs we moved off to just round the corner to wait again.
Then we saw the Queen come onto the balcony of the town hall and away we went marched pass, with an eyes left eyes front round the corner by Blockbusters and then dismissed . It was all over in 3 minutes, but on reflection well worth it.
Then into Tesco's cafe for a long awaited cuppa and meet the three members who had met the Queen and been feed & watered. We all agreed that it had been a wonderful day.
