Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day  2012 was held in Clayton Le Moors and five members and our Standard Bearer were in attendence.

After a short march from The Civic Hall to the Cenotaph in Mercer Park, where a short service was held followed by a march past then into Mercer House for refreshments. All six of us where in agreement that the cheese scones were the best we had ever tasted.

That leaves us a lot to live up to as next year it is Rishton's turn to host Armed Forces Day.

The link below is of the Armed Forces Day parade in Rishton concentrating on Emily-Rose Hughes before she became RBL Mascot marching with Accrington Royal British Legion. A first for Emily Rose and also the first time Rishton as hosted the parade.  It was great to see the generations and communities come together Shoulder to Shoulder.

This is another link to the same parade but with a focus on the Mayor, the service and raising of The Veteran's Flag by serving Marine Adie Guilfoyle.
