Risca branch has a vibrant, forward thinking and healthy membership.

Meetings are held monthly, on every first Thursday of the month, at The Workingmens Top Club, St Mary's Street, Risca at 7.00pm. Please come along and become part of the branch, whether you are ex forces or anyone interested in making a difference in your community.

We engage with the whole community and regularly hold events and trips for veterans, schools, local youth groups as well as many of the wider community. 

This is an annual event held in the grounds of Waunfawr Park, Crosskeys between 11.00am - 2.00pm.The local children and families can come along and follow hidden, easy clues around the park, to claim a free easter egg at the end. We collaborate with our chosen 2026 local charity, Sparkles who shares the day by holding an Easter Raffle, with monies raised going to the charity. The eggs are donated by the branch, members and local businesses and affiliations. This year we wish to extend our thanks to Tesco, Risca, Morrisons, Rogerstone, Willmott Dixon and the Armed Forces Lodge for their contributions.

We are excited to announce that this is a new initiative that the branch is taking on this year. The Drop In and Chat will be held every quarter at The Cuckoo Cafe in Risca. It will be open to any veterans and serving personnel who would like to stop, have a free coffee, tea and biscuits and spend some time chatting to fellow comrades. It will be open between 10am and 12.30pm. The first will be held on Wednesday 8th April. Please come along and check it out.

These are very popular with our wider community and are held at the Moriah Baptist Church, Risca. Our team of ladies make freshly baked cakes and sandwiches and they are joined by other member volunteers to wait on the tables and provide seasonal entertainment. Look out for adverts on local community platforms, our RBL Risca Branch Facebook page and posters within the community for details of tickets nearer the dates.

This is a time for the branch members and their friends and families to come together and enjoy a summer barbeque, held at the Risca Rugby Club. It's a time to relax and enjoy companiable fun and a few drinks with some games and a raffle thrown in.

On alternative years, we join together with with a Christmas party, held either at the Top Club or Risca Rugby Club or reserve a Christmas meal at a local restaurant. This year, the meal has been booked at The Castle Inn, Pontywaun, on the 5th December.
