Risca

Based at the Working Mens Club, 60, St Mary's Street, Risca, South Wales, the Risca branch has a long standing history of supporting veterans and their families. Records indicate that it was established in 1921, aligning with the national formation of the Legion which was founded on May 15,1921, to support ex-servicemen after WWI.

In 2021, Risca branch commemorated 100 years of continued support to the community. The branch is central to local Remembrance, commemorating those lost in both World Wars, as well as more recent conflicts. It provides social, emotional and financial support to the local armed forces community and engages, through various events with the wider local community.

The RBL Risca branch continues to operate as a local representative of the national charity. See the Caerphilly County Borough link for further details of the War Memorial at Cromwell Road, Risca and its history.

Memorial Garden, Risca

In 2021, the branch collaborated with one of Morrisons Community Champions, Rachel Meredith, to landscape the memorial garden, in the centre of Risca. This garden was originally set up for the Pontywaun County School memorial from the First World War. It remembers the 25 boys and one teacher who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Over the last five years, the branch and community volunteers have worked tirelessly and the garden has been awarded the Green Flag status for gardens and open spaces for the last three years.
