The Royal British Legion is recognised as the national custodian of Remembrance.
Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, is the day traditionally set aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today.
In Ripon we remember annually at the War Memorial in Ripon Spa Gardens at 10.30am, we then parade to Ripon Cathedral for a Remembrance Service.
Our military organisations also hold a short service in the Ripon Memorial Garden, opposite the Cathedral, on the first Saturday in November at 10.30am.
.
On the Thursday evening prior to Remembrance Sunday, Ripon Cathedral hosts a "Concert of Remembrance", which has become very popular in our calendar of remembrance. The Cathedral also hosts a "Children's Remembrance Service" for North Yorkshire's Service Children.
