Happy March! Rumour has it Spring is on the way.
The Branch has welcomed our new treasurer Tony Mcgowan. We are very grateful to Tony for coming on board and we are looking forward to working with him. We would also like to say thank you to our former treasurer Chris Davis for your support and hard work.
The Armed Forces Coffee morning is going from strength to strength as we welcomed veterans and their families to the February coffee morning at the Well. We are looking for our next gathering.

Friday 25th April - Annual quiz night.
Our annual quiz night will take place at Babworth Sports & Social Club Timings to be confirmed. Teams can enter with up to 6 per team £3.00 per person. There is a cash prize for the winning team.

Sunday 4th May - Concert for Peace
As part of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary for VE Day there will be a concert for peace on the Embankment of the River Trent.
Nottinghamshire County Council are organising for a return coach to go from Retford Bus station to Nottinghamshire County Hall. There is a coach organiser Councillor Malachi Caroll who is organising the coach and gathering the list of those wishing to attend. His contact number is 07464 660307. Monday 5th May - Retford Charter Day
Retford Charter Day celebrates the granting of Retford's Royal Charter in 1246on The core theme will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

Wednesday 7th May - Armed Forces Community Coffee Morning
The Well, Hospital Road, Retford, between 10:30 & 12:30. A chance for all members of the Armed Forces community - serving personnel, veterans, family & friends to get together over cake & coffee for a chat. The is a change of location & date for the coffee morning, it will take place on the first Wednesday of the month in the Ridyard Room, inside the main building.
Thursday 8th May - VE80 Celebrations
We will be holding an Act of Remembrance on the Market Square in Retford at 1045. Afterwards there will be coffee in the Town Hall followed by a fish & Chip lunch in the Town hall Ballroom. The lunch will be for 70 veterans - 35 Veterans from the Retford area who will be joining 35 veterans from the Royal British legion Worksop branch area. This is being organised by Bassetlaw council. There will be entertainment during lunch. Our Secretary will be collecting names of the veterans who would like to attend this event.
The Retford & District Branch along with Retford Rotary club will be holding an Art competition on the theme of Peace - further details will be announced shortly.
Friday 5th July to Monday 7th July - Flower Festival at the Methodist Church, Grove Street, Retford
The flower arrangements will depict a country. Further details to follow
14th September - Battle of Britain service at St Michaels, Chapelgate, Retford - Details to follow
Awaiting details of events for Harworth and surrounding villages - details will be updated as soon as possible.
