In the presence of the deputy Lord Lieutenant, the worshipful Mayor of Redcar, and the MPs for both Redcar, and for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland: Anna Turley MP and Tom Blenkinsop MP; the event began at 10:20. Following a short march down, the parade fell in beneath the Town Clock, where the short service of thanks and remembrance was held.
The Parade was led by the Cleveland ACF Corps of Drums. Many Veterans, current Servicemen and women, and Cadets were marching in the parade. Andy McLeod, the ex RAF man who cycled from London to Redcar in under a day to raise funds for the British Legion, was marching along with the cycle that took him on the epic journey.
