80th Anniversary of D-Day, VE Day, and VJ Day Tree Planting.
Otley Town Council hosted a commemorative tree planting ceremony for the 80th anniversary of D-Day, VE Day, and VJ Day, marking three crucial events in the Second World War.
The tree, an English oak, was sponsored by Otley Town Council and supplied by Leeds City Council Parks and Countryside. The oak tree was chosen for its significance in symbolic strength and endurance.
It was planted in Manor Garth Park on February 25, 2025.
Cllr Penny Robinson, Otley Town Mayor, led the planting ceremony, with Otley Town Councillors, Leeds City Ward Councillor Ryk Downes, members of the Royal British Legion, Otley and Guiseley Branches, Otley Honorary Citizens and other representatives of the community in attendance.
