2012 Poppy Appeal

The Poppy Appeal in Orihuela Costa

The Orihuela Costa and District Branch of The Royal British Legion would like to thank everyone in the area for their kind donations towards  this years Poppy Appeal. The total of €28,688.47 and again was the highest the Branch has raised since it was formed in 2008.

Your donations will go a long way towards helping dependents of service personnel who have been killed in all conflicts. Also to those who have been injured, have fallen on hard times or sickness and require help from our welfare departments.

Keith Carter Branch Chairman said this was a great result bearing in mind the economic situation that everyone is in. It goes to show how  people still hold in great esteem our service men and women past and present.

The money raised in Spain remains in the country to help welfare cases. Any money that is not used at the end of each year is sent to the United Kingdom to help boost their funds.

Keith also said he would like to thank all of the Branch Members who helped in collections, distributed Poppy Boxes, organised events and golf tournaments. Without their hard work throughout the year this amount would not have been achievable.

The Orihuela Costa and District Branch meet at The Olympia Restaurant Mil Palmeras every 3rd Thursday of the month, 7 for 7.30pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend and join. You DO NOT have to be ex service to do so. For more information visit our web site.
